Three Met Cops Escape Firing Despite Shocking WhatsApp Abuse

Three Metropolitan Police officers have dodged the sack after being caught up in a vile WhatsApp chat where their boss hurled graphic insults about rape victims, race, and disabled people.

PCs Kentafi Lindill, James Humphrey, and Craig Hawkins were found guilty of breaching professional standards. Yet instead of getting the boot, they received written warnings lasting 18 to 24 months and remain on the force.

Horrific WhatsApp Messages From Senior Officer

The offending WhatsApp group, named “Here we Goooooo”, was active between December 2021 and May 2022. It included a senior officer—nicknamed Officer A—who is now facing separate misconduct charges.

Officer A, an older, once-respected member of a South London response team, unleashed a stream of offensive, misogynistic, and racist remarks, including:

  • Calling a rape victim a “cunt” who should be “locked up”
  • Suggesting she was “raw dogged” in a park by “two blokes after a night out”
  • Wishing a colleague would be “anally raped
  • Using slurs like “retard” and “spastic
  • Labeling female officers “mental or slags or both

Officers Knew But Stayed Silent

The three probationary cops saw these vile messages but kept quiet. PC Lindill, of Moroccan background, called the comments “deeply shameful, derogatory and wholly unacceptable” yet admitted seeing Officer A as a role model.

PC Humphrey said he feared retaliation if he spoke out. PC Hawkins claimed he missed many posts but acknowledged he did nothing to report or challenge the abuse.

Misconduct, Not Dismissal, For Three Officers

A gross misconduct hearing ruled the trio broke professional codes but found their offences didn’t merit firing. Commander Katie Lilburn, chairing the panel, said their silence “could damage the Met’s reputation” and harm public trust in tackling rape and violence against women.

The officers were handed formal written warnings staying on their records for 18 to 24 months.

Met Police Under Pressure Over Culture Crisis

This scandal erupts amid growing scrutiny of the Metropolitan Police’s culture and how it handles misconduct, especially involving violence towards women.

Commander Lilburn stressed the need for accountability and cultural overhaul to restore faith in the force.

The senior officer at the heart of the WhatsApp storm, Officer A, remains under investigation and may face harsher disciplinary action.
