A violent thug has been slammed with a hefty jail term after launching a savage attack inside a Central London restaurant, leaving his victim permanently blind in one eye.
Glass Smashed Into Face Near St Paul’s Cathedral
The shocking assault took place on October 14, 2021, at around 11:40 PM on New Change Passage, a stone’s throw from the iconic St Paul’s Cathedral. Tauream Smith-Sharp targeted his victim as he headed to the cloakroom, violently smashing a glass into his face before hurling chairs at him in a blind rage.
Perp Gets Nearly Seven Years Behind Bars
Smith-Sharp, 28, from Watford, was quickly arrested after the attack. He faced Inner London Crown Court, where he was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. The court handed down a prison sentence of six years and nine months for the brutal incident.
Police Praise Quick Action, Warn Against Violence
“This was an unprovoked and violent attack,” said Detective Constable Ufuk Ekbic of the City of London Police. “Thanks to swift police work, a dangerous individual has been brought to justice.”
Ekbic added that the police remain committed to cracking down on violence and protecting the public at all costs.
