Hit-and-Run Driver Jailed for Over Seven Years After Horrific Totton Crash
A 22-year-old man has been locked up for more than seven years following a brutal hit-and-run on Totton High Street last year. Joshua James Wallace, who has no fixed address, ploughed his Ford Focus into a pedestrian before fleeing the scene on September 30, 2022.
Victim Suffers Serious Head and Rib Injuries
The victim, a man in his 30s, was left with major injuries to his head and ribs after being struck. Emergency services raced to the scene, but Wallace didn’t stop to help.
Car Found Dismantled After Crime
Police later tracked down Wallace’s wrecked vehicle at a junkyard in Northam, where it was being stripped for parts. Shockingly, Wallace had sold the car to another person on the very day of the crash.
Wallace Pleads Guilty and Receives Harsh Sentence
Wallace was arrested early the next day and pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Southampton Crown Court. Yesterday (April 26), he was sentenced to seven years and six months behind bars, plus an additional three and a half years on probation.
“Justice has been served for this appalling hit-and-run,” said a court spokesperson.
