London Police Hunt Six Men Over Shocking East London Homophobic Attack
The Met Police have released images of six men they want to question following a brutal homophobic assault in east London. The attack happened around 5:30pm on Sunday, 1 October, as two men in their 20s walked along High Road, Chadwell Heath.
Victims Abused, Attacked with Wooden Plank
Reports say up to six men launched a verbal tirade of homophobic abuse and threats at the victims. Things quickly turned violent when one attacker smashed a wooden plank into one man’s head. The victim suffered cuts and bruises and had to be treated in hospital but was discharged soon after. The other man escaped physical injury but both were left shaken.
Met Treats Assault as Hate Crime, Seeks Public’s Help
The police are investigating the incident as a homophobic hate crime due to the slurs and threats before the attack. No arrests have been made yet, but the Met is determined to bring the offenders to justice.
