Burglars Busted: Duo Slapped with 4½ Years for Jewellery Raids
Stephen Baillie and Taylor Houston were caught red-handed and jailed after a wave of burglaries across Kent.
10 Burglaries in Just Two Months
Kent Police’s Chief Constable’s Crime Squad linked Baillie, 32, and Houston, 28, to a string of 10 break-ins across Herne Bay, Canterbury, Blean, Whitstable, Wingham, and Sandwich between October and November 2022.
Van Leads Police Straight to Culprits
Detectives tracked a van tied to the crimes and stopped it in Sandwich on 21 November. Both men were arrested the next day.
Stolen Jewellery Returned to Heartbroken Victims
Officers recovered swathes of stolen jewellery, some of huge sentimental value, returning it to the rightful owners.
Detective Sergeant Jay Robinson said: “These two thought they could target homes and get away with stealing precious jewellery. Our tough investigation laid bare their full involvement. We’re pleased to have returned some of the stolen items to victims.”
“Kent Police will always hold offenders accountable. I hope these men use their time in prison to reflect on their life choices.”
Both Baillie, from Westgate Court Avenue, Canterbury, and Houston, from Canterbury Road, Herne Bay, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle and were sentenced to 4½ years each at Canterbury Crown Court on 3 January 2023.
