Two Men Charged in Met’s Terror Crackdown
Detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command have swooped, charging two men with terror offences.
Suspects Named and Charged
Ahmed Aweys, 32, from Redbridge, faces three charges for disseminating terrorist publications under section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
Meanwhile, Abdulaziz Omer Munye, 26, also stands accused of one offence under the same law. Both were charged late on Thursday, 9 August, and are set to appear before Westminster Magistrates on Friday, 10 August.
Part of Wider Terror Operation
This latest move follows four arrests linked to an ongoing Met operation targeting terror activities.
- Earlier on Thursday morning, a 30-year-old woman was arrested for suspected collection of information, breaching section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. She remains in custody.
- Back in April, a 29-year-old east London man was also arrested for terror offences. He is currently on bail, due back at a south London police station in mid-August.
This coordinated crackdown signals the Met’s relentless fight against terror threats on UK soil.
