London Drug Dealers Busted in Margate with £5K of Class A Drugs
County Line Dealers Caught Red-Handed
Two London drug dealers have been locked up after police caught them trying to peddle Class A drugs in Margate. On the afternoon of Thursday 4 April 2019, Kent Police spotted 19-year-old Ben Mbuta-Mapasa and 22-year-old Robert Durao roaming the seaside town, suspected of dealing drugs.
Heroin and Crack Worth Thousands Found
Officers stopped and searched the pair on Northdown Road. Durao was caught with heroin and crack cocaine wraps worth around £5,000. Meanwhile, Mbuta-Mapasa was found with a phone believed to be a county line device used to advertise drug deals.
Both men had train tickets from London to Margate, confirming their trip was no casual visit.
Sentences Handed Down at Canterbury Crown Court
- Durao, from West Drayton, admitted possession with intent to supply and was jailed for two years and seven months.
- Mbuta-Mapasa, from Harrow, denied involvement but was found guilty after trial and sentenced to four years and six months.
Police Crack Down on County Line Crime
“This was a typical case of county line drug dealers on a trip to Kent to ply their illegal trade,” said Detective Constable Keith Rochford.
“Their behaviour made it clear they weren’t just enjoying a day at the beach. Drugs ruin lives and we won’t tolerate this illegal activity. The drugs seized cost these dealers big and disrupted their trade.”
“Anyone worried about drug dealing in their area should report it to Kent Police on 101, or call 999 if a crime is happening.”
