Two Men Charged After Racial Attack on Jogger in Southampton
Ricky Goodman, 35, and Rory Marshall, 24, both from Southampton, have been hit with serious charges after a shocking racial assault on a jogger.
Serious Charges for Goodman and Marshall
Goodman of Windermere Avenue faces four charges, including:
- Racially aggravated assault
- Assault by beating
- Using racially aggravated threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress
- Using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress
Marshall of William Macleod Way is charged with:
- Racially aggravated assault
- Assault by beating
- Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place (two counts)
Attack on Jogger in Vosper Road
The incident happened at 4.15pm on Tuesday, 23 February in Vosper Road. A man in his 30s was out jogging when a group in a car shouted racial abuse as they drove by. They then stopped and launched a violent assault.
The victim suffered minor facial and elbow injuries.
Court Date Set
Goodman and Marshall are due in Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 21 September, following postal requisitions.
