North London Rapists Sentenced: 13 and 12 Years Behind Bars
Adilson Domingos and Baxton Atenis have been convicted of raping a 16-year-old girl in a chilling north London attack. Wood Green Crown Court handed down the verdict on February 1, 2024, after a tense three-week trial.
Brutal Crime Details Emerge
The shocking assault happened on July 11, 2021. The teenager was out in central London with a friend when Domingos and Atenis forced her into their car. They took her to Atenis’ home in South Tottenham, where they brutally raped her.
Despite the horror, the victim escaped in the early hours the next day and immediately alerted police.
Investigation and Arrests
The Sapphire Unit detectives launched a fast and thorough investigation. Thanks to the victim’s detailed descriptions, including the car and location, both men were soon caught. The victim also gave police a phone number from Atenis that led directly to Domingos’ arrest.
Domingos’ social media accounts helped seal the case. Both men were charged with rape in December 2022 and kept on bail while the evidence was gathered.
Justice Served – Victim Praised for Bravery
On July 1, 2024, Atenis was sentenced to 13 years in prison for two counts of rape. Domingos received 12 years behind bars.
“Domingos and Atenis posed a significant danger to society. The victim’s courage and the help of witnesses were crucial in bringing them to justice,” said Detective Constable Daniella Biggins, who led the case.
DC Biggins urged other victims and witnesses of sexual assault to come forward, promising full support from trained officers. “This conviction sends a strong message: rapists will be hunted down and punished,” she added.
