Knife Killer Tyrone Bryan Jailed for 19 Years Over Archie Beston’s Death
Tyrone Bryan, 20, has been handed a hefty 19-year prison sentence for the manslaughter of 19-year-old Archie Beston. The Kingston Crown Court delivered the verdict on Thursday, 29 October.
Multiple Charges Land Bryan Behind Bars
Alongside the manslaughter conviction, Bryan was also sentenced to three years for causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) to a second victim, plus 18 months for possession of an offensive weapon. All sentences will run concurrently.
His accomplice, Finlay Ahwan, 21, was jailed for seven years after being found guilty of dangerous driving and attempting GBH by using a vehicle.
Deadly Night in Kingston: Van, Stabbing, and Chaos
At around 3.40am on Saturday, 29 February, Archie witnessed a terrifying attack on Clarence Street where Ahwan deliberately drove a van at a 19-year-old. Following this, Bryan, who was in the van, fatally stabbed Archie. The same attack saw Bryan stab a second victim who needed hospital treatment.
Despite desperate efforts by police, paramedics, and the public, Archie died six days later in hospital after life-saving attempts failed.
Justice Served But Family Left Shattered
Bryan was caught at the scene by nightclub security at The Viper Room, while Ahwan turned himself in at Wandsworth police station the next day.
“Today’s sentencing is the culmination of our investigation into the tragic and needless death of a young man,” said Detective Chief Inspector Helen Rance.
“No sentence can provide comfort for a family; Archie’s mother lost not only her son but her best friend. His family have shown such dignity over the past eight months, and the thoughts of my team remain with them.”
