Men Hunt Women in Stolen Car, Tried to Kidnap and Rob

On 6 November 2018, Jordan Godfrey and Brett Parker were caught terrorising women in a stolen Ford Focus. Using the fake excuse of asking for directions, they targeted several females in quick succession in broad daylight.

Chilling Attempts to Kidnap Young Girls

The first victim was approached at 8am. The men stopped beside her and offered a lift, but she walked away. Minutes later, they pulled up next to a teenage girl on London Road. They asked her to get in to give directions. When she refused, they followed her, only leaving after she pretended to make a phone call.

By 8.30am, their brazen spree continued. A woman walking to the train station was blocked by the car. Parker grabbed her arm and tried to force her inside. She fought back and escaped to safety.

Violent Outburst After Car Crash

Next, the duo drove to a nearby private car park and crashed into a parked vehicle. Two women filming the aftermath were confronted aggressively. Godfrey grabbed one woman, dragged her to the floor, and demanded their phones.

The pair fled the scene. Police later found the abandoned stolen car in Maidstone. Forensic evidence including DNA linked Godfrey and Parker to the crime. Parker’s DNA was even found on the coat of the woman he tried to kidnap.

Justice Served: Jail Sentences Handed Down

Both men were arrested and faced trial at Maidstone Crown Court. Parker, 28, of Dagenham, was found guilty of attempted robbery and attempted kidnap. On 20 February 2023, he was sentenced to three years and nine months, to run alongside another sentence.

Godfrey, 30, from Romford, was convicted of attempted robbery and jailed for two years and six months.

Detective Constable Hayley Campbell, West Kent CID, said: “Their attempts to force women into their car have no clear motive but clearly caused panic and fear. We are committed to making sure women feel safe. The victims’ courage in coming forward helped lock these men up. They will likely carry the trauma for years, but justice has been served.”
