Knife Attack Gangs Brought to Heel in Hackney — Jail Terms Handed Down
18 Years for Stabbing and Knife Possession
Reece Bailey, 29, with no fixed address, has been locked up for 18 years. He pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and carrying a knife during a brutal night attack on Hackney’s Mare Street in July 2020.
Accomplices Also Face Jail for Robbery
Azemema Ewubare, 30, of Well Street, Hackney, was sentenced to 22 months behind bars after admitting robbery. Meanwhile, fellow gang member Dorlan Stewart, 27, of Ridley Road, Hackney, was given a hospital order under the Mental Health Act following his robbery plea.
Violent Crime Caught on CCTV
The early hours attack around 3am saw victims stabbed and robbed of their bikes. One brave victim alerted police after being stabbed, claiming a gang was going around stabbing people and stealing bikes. CCTV operators acted quickly, spotting suspects and directing officers.
Police caught Bailey at a bus stop nearby, knife found hidden in his waistband as he tried to flee. Ewubare was identified through forensic evidence and CCTV footage showing him dragging a victim off their bike and stealing it.
