Mr Krowka, 37, originally from Poland, was attacked in Maghera on the night of Saturday, March 31, 2018. On 3 April, his body was discovered inside a derelict property in the Glen Road area of town. Adrian Kozak, 22, was sentenced to eight years in prison. His sentence will be served in custody for four years and on licence for four years. Caolan Johnston, 21, was sentenced to six years in prison, three years in prison, and three years on probation. It was an unprovoked and violent attack carried out by Adrian Kozak and Caolon Johnston, which resulted in the death of Piotr Krowka,” Detective Inspector Davis said. The post-mortem examination revealed that Piotr had suffered blunt force injuries to his head as well as other injuries to his body. This was a sad and senseless loss of a life, and my thoughts – and those of the investigation team – are very much with the Krowka family.” Piotr was a vulnerable, homeless man – an innocent man who posed no threat or danger at all. Before the attack, Kozak and Johnston had been out for the evening, socialising with a group of friends. “I hope that as they spend the next few years in prison, both of these young men will come to understand the consequences of their actions that night.” “Throughout this investigation, our officers worked closely with prosecutors from the Public Prosecution Service,” Detective Inspector Davis continued. The evidence gathered, including forensic evidence and CCTV footage, resulted in both defendants pleading guilty.”
