Brutal Basement Brawl Ends in Manslaughter

Two Men Jailed Over Deadly Assault

Daniel Bond, 34, and Lee Conlon, 37, both from Weston-super-Mare, have been locked up for the manslaughter of Jason Lock. Bond got seven years and eight months, while Conlon received six years and four months behind bars.

Fatal Attack Caught at Wiveliscombe Home

Jason Lock, 55, died in hospital after a savage assault at his home in Stockers Close on Tuesday 17 May. The shocking attack happened right in front of his partner Mandy.

The court heard how both men threw punches, but it was Bond’s blow that knocked Jason unconscious. He died from serious head injuries later in hospital.

Judge Hart slammed the attack as a “sustained” and senseless act, calling it “a tragedy that should never have happened.”

Heartbroken Partner Pays Tribute

Mandy Lock described Jason as her “best friend and lover” – “kind, hardworking, and someone who would do anything for anyone.” She is devastated by his death.

“Jason was not fighting back, Jason was a peacemaker not a fighter. I cannot explain how it feels to have the person you love ripped away… in front of your eyes. Just trying to function every day feels completely unnatural. Every time I step outside of my home, I am reminded of what happened as it happened right on my doorstep. It’s just so painful.”

Woman Denies Charges in Same Incident

Laura Lockyer, 32, also from Wiveliscombe, appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates’ Court on 3 November. She denied assault and public order charges connected to the attack. She’s been granted unconditional bail and will return to court on 27 January 2023.
