East Sussex Car Thieves Busted for Jaguar and Range Rover Heists
Two young men have been handed suspended sentences for a series of high-end vehicle thefts and burglaries across East Sussex. The crooks targeted Jaguars, Land Rovers, and Range Rovers in Bexhill, Hastings, and Eastbourne between July and August last year.
Burglary Spree and Construction Site Vandalism
Besides the car heists, the pair struck two Bexhill homes on July 28 and September 21. They also caused damage at a local construction site on August 26, adding to the chaos.
Tyrese Cannon and Dave Hendley Face Justice
Tyrese Cannon, 19, from Oak Road, Bexhill, was locked up after cops charged him with seven vehicle thefts, three burglaries, and criminal damage. His mate, 19-year-old Dave Hendley, also from Oak Road, got hit with charges for three vehicle thefts, one burglary, and driving offences.
Both lads pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court. Cannon got a nine-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, a 12-month driving ban, 150 hours of unpaid work, and must attend a rehabilitation programme. Hendley received a 15-month suspended sentence for 20 months, 200 hours of unpaid work, and a rehab order.
Police Warn Locals to Stay Sharp
“We know how much vehicle crime and burglary disrupt communities, and we’re cracking down hard,” said PC Ciaran Gaymer from the Community Investigations Team.
“Owners should protect keyless fobs in Faraday bags and use steering wheel locks to keep their motors safe. Spot anything dodgy? Report it online or call 101.”
