Hammer Horror in Newcastle Pub Kidnap

Kenneth Ingham and Stephen Cardella dragged their victim out of a Newcastle pub on February 5, 2022, before shoving him into a waiting car. What happened next was a brutal assault that left the man fighting for his life.

Brutal Attack Leaves Victim Seriously Injured

Just minutes into the drive, Ingham unleashed a savage attack with a claw hammer, then slashed the victim with a knife. Meanwhile, Cardella demanded cash as the victim endured the terrifying ordeal.

The victim suffered a hairline fracture to his cheekbone and a cut to his left elbow so severe it later required surgery. After the beating, the attackers dumped him by the roadside and sped off.

Threats Follow as Police Close In

The day after the assault, Ingham had the nerve to call the victim, threatening him over whether he’d reported the attack to police. However, CCTV footage captured the chilling moment Ingham and Cardella forced the victim toward the car.

Police arrested both men, but they refused to comment during interviews. Despite pleading not guilty, they were convicted at Newcastle Crown Court. Ingham received two-and-a-half years for kidnap and causing serious harm without intent.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage, Promise Zero Tolerance

“The victim in this case was put through a terrible ordeal and I have no doubt this incident will stay with him for a long time,” said Detective Sergeant Scott Youngman of Northumbria Police.

“I want to thank him for his bravery and cooperation, which must have been incredibly tough. Thanks to hard work from officers, we identified and arrested Ingham and Cardella quickly. Though they denied the offences, the evidence was overwhelming.”

“We will not tolerate criminality like this. Anyone who thinks this behaviour is acceptable has no place in our communities.”
