Tragic Crash: Woman Killed by Police Car on Emergency Call
Just before midnight on Wednesday, 9 June 2021, a deadly collision rocked Stockwell Road, SW9. Two police cars were rushing to an emergency when one slammed into 25-year-old Shante Daniel-Folkes from Norwood, SE27.
Despite desperate efforts by officers and paramedics, Shante died at the scene.
Independent Probe Slams Police
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched a full investigation, fully backed by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), to find out how the crash occurred.
The case was swiftly passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for legal action.
Officers Charged Over Fatal Crash
- PC Nadeem Patel faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving under Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act.
- PC Gary Thomson has been charged with dangerous driving contrary to Section 2 of the Road Traffic Act.
Both officers, part of the Central South Command Unit, must appear at 1 Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 October. They are currently on restricted duties pending the court hearings.
