Upton Brothers Banged Up for Brutal Attacks in Wisbech
Brothers Riley and Bricy Upton, 24 and 21, have been jailed for six years each after a violent spree left three men hospitalised in Wisbech. Peterborough Crown Court handed down the tough sentence on January 26.
Rampage at Play Centre Sparks Outrage
The trouble kicked off on October 18 last year at a children’s play centre on Fen Road. The Uptons showed aggressive behaviour that quickly turned physical. Staff tried to stop the chaos but one employee ended up with gashes to the head and bruised ribs.
Merciless Market Square Attack and Fuel Station Assault
On November 4, the brothers launched a savage, unprovoked attack on a man in Market Square. The victim suffered facial bruising, chipped teeth, and needed stitches for a fractured eye socket.
They didn’t stop there. Later, with mates, they bought booze from a Lyn Road fuel station before viciously punching, kicking, and stamping on another man. That victim was left with a fractured jaw and severe cuts and bruises.
Justice Served: Detectives Praise Sentence
Riley and Bricy were arrested the day after the final assault and charged with GBH with intent, assault by beating, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Both pleaded guilty.
Detective Sergeant Lee Womack said: “These attacks were fuelled by alcohol and the brothers’ blasé attitude to violence. I’m pleased they’ll be behind bars for a good stretch – Wisbech will be safer without them on the streets.”
