Dover Skatepark Stab Horror: Knife-Wielding Attacker Jailed for Four Years
A 25-year-old man has been locked up for four years after trying to rob a skateboarder at knifepoint in Dover.
Unprovoked Attack with Craft Knife
Isaac Chapman, armed with a craft knife, targeted a man at the Pencester Gardens skatepark on 27 October 2019. He held the blade to the victim’s throat, demanding cash in a terrifying, unprovoked assault.
The victim managed to push Chapman’s arm away but suffered a minor neck injury. Chapman fled the scene empty-handed.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
Just a week later, the victim spotted Chapman again in Dover and immediately informed police. This led to Chapman’s arrest.
On the day of the attack, Chapman had been socialising at the skatepark but quickly turned aggressive, singling out the man who was with friends.
Four Years Behind Bars for Knife Crime
Chapman, who has no fixed address, was charged on 17 November with attempted robbery and possession of a craft knife in public. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on 5 August.
Detective Constable Kerry Akast said: “The victim was not known to Chapman and seems to have been targeted purely for falling into his eyeline. It shows what a despicable and nasty nature Chapman has.”
“Carrying a knife shows he was ready for violence, and holding it against someone’s throat is deeply concerning. I hope the victim can move on, and I thank him for his support.”
