Wateringbury Pensioner Jailed for Horrific Child Sex Crimes
A 78-year-old Wateringbury pensioner has been locked up for six years after being found guilty of multiple child sex offences spanning over four years.
Terrence Clover’s Sickening Crimes
Terence Clover, of Orchard Crescent, was arrested in December 2018 following allegations he groomed and abused a young boy. The probe uncovered a second victim and a disturbing pattern of grooming, with Clover showering children with gifts like clothes and computer games. He even promised one child they would inherit from his will.
Shockingly, Clover gave a victim a secret mobile phone to hide, enabling clandestine calls. He faced nine charges of child assault dating from September 2014 to December 2018.
Trial and Sentence
Clover denied all allegations at Maidstone Crown Court but was convicted after trial. On 19 November 2019, he was sentenced to six years in prison, followed by an extended three-year licence period. Additionally, an indefinite sexual harm prevention order was imposed.
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery
“Terrence Clover is a sexual predator who targeted and abused children for his own gratification,” said Detective Constable George Brooks of the West Kent Vulnerable Investigation Team.
“The damage caused is lifelong. I commend the victims for their bravery in coming forward.”
“If you’ve been a victim of sexual abuse, it’s never too late to report it. We’ll treat all information with the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality.”
“Our specialist team works relentlessly to bring offenders like Clover to justice.”
