Woman Charged Over Fatal Bow Stabbing

A 21-year-old woman has been charged after a man was fatally stabbed and another woman was left fighting for her life in East London.

Fatima Umar, from Navenby Walk, E3, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 25 November. She faces charges for the murder of 46-year-old Alan Geary and the attempted murder of a 56-year-old woman who also suffered stab wounds. Umar was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 27 November.

Timeline of the Terrifying Night

Police were called shortly after midnight on Saturday, 23 November, to reports of a stabbing at a home on Navenby Walk. Emergency crews found Alan Geary with critical injuries. Despite being rushed to hospital, he sadly died from his wounds. A post-mortem has been completed and his family informed.

Just three hours later, police were alerted to a second stabbing at another address on the same street. A 56-year-old woman was found injured and taken to hospital for treatment before being discharged.

Arrests and Charges

  • Initially, three people were arrested at the scene: two men aged 45 and 23, plus a 21-year-old woman—all on suspicion of murder.
  • The men were later released without charge.
  • Fatima Umar was arrested following the second stabbing and subsequently charged with murder and attempted murder.

Specialist detectives from the Crime Command are leading the probe. No motive or links between Umar and the victims have been revealed.
