Woman Guilty of Murder After Stabbing Boyfriend in the Back
Deborah Napier, 53, was found guilty of murder today (Nov 24) at Winchester Crown Court. The grim verdict follows the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Jolyon Wray, who died from a knife wound to the back at their Ryde home in East Hill Road.
Fatal Attack on June 13
The deadly incident unfolded just before 4pm on June 13. Napier was arrested shortly after Jolyon’s tragic death. Initially, she pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the start of the trial, but the prosecution pushed for a murder conviction.
Investigator Speaks Out
“Deborah and Jolyon clearly had a troubled relationship, which, following a vicious attack, resulted in the tragic loss of Jolyon’s life,” said Detective Constable Luke Donovan.
“Despite it being clear from the outset who was responsible for Jolyon’s death, the team worked tirelessly to build a case for murder. I hope today’s verdict offers some closure to Jolyon’s family and friends.”
“Special thanks to Jolyon’s brother and sister, who bravely gave evidence during the trial,” added Donovan.
Sentencing Set for Tomorrow
Deborah Napier will be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court tomorrow (Nov 25). The family of Jolyon Wray now hope for justice to bring an end to the traumatic ordeal.
