15 Arrested in Massive East London Drug Crackdown

A major police swoop has seen 15 men arrested in east London as part of a wide-ranging operation targeting Class A drugs in the Weavers Ward area.

The suspects, aged 21 to 55, were hauled in on Thursday, 14 February, following 19 intelligence-led raids across Tower Hamlets, Havering, and Hackney. Officers seized a significant stash of Class A drugs along with over £10,000 in cash.

Operation ‘Continuum’ Strikes Hard

The raids, led by the Met’s Central East Command Unit, are the latest phase of ‘Continuum’ — a joint effort between police and Tower Hamlets Council to hit drug supply networks hard.

“This is the culmination of four months of hard and covert police activity,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mike Hamer, Tower Hamlets Crime, Gangs, and Drugs lead. “These arrests target drug dealers in Weavers Ward and aim to ease community fears about drug dealing.”

He added: “Our work doesn’t stop here. We’re teaming up with local housing providers and council partners to tackle this issue long-term. The public’s help is vital — sharing info with police or Crimestoppers can make all the difference.”

Mayor Praises Community Effort

John Biggs, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, applauded the crackdown. “Residents have helped pinpoint dealers, and this partnership has delivered results. We’ll keep using all our powers to keep our streets safe.”
