Tragic Fire in Green: Two More Deaths Confirmed
A devastating house fire in Green has claimed three lives, including two more victims who died in hospital following the blaze.
Early Morning Blaze on Russett Way
The London Fire Brigade was called to a property on Russett Way, SE13, at 5.56am on Saturday, 6 March. Firefighters rescued three people from the scene.
A five-year-old boy was rushed to hospital but sadly died the same day. A post-mortem revealed he died from inhalation of toxic fumes.
More Tragic Deaths Follow
A 14-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries in hospital on 10 March. Then, on 11 March, a 34-year-old woman also died from her injuries. All three victims were from the same family.
Relatives have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Police Suspect Deliberate Arson
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command believe the fire was deliberately started inside the house by someone inside.
“This was a truly awful incident and we are doing everything we can to support the family’s next of kin,” said Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith. “While I accept we may never know the exact circumstances, I urge anyone with information to come forward.”
