Six-Year-Old Dog Sansa Left Seriously Injured on M20
Six-year-old Sansa was badly hurt after wandering onto the London-bound carriageway near Junction 9 on the M20. The shocking incident happened just after 12.30pm on Monday 17 January 2022. An on-the-spot paramedic bravely blocked the lane to protect her until Kent Roads Policing Unit officers arrived to control the traffic.
Charity Steps In to Save Sansa’s Life
Sansa was whisked away by a representative from Dartford’s Artisan Rare Breeds and Animal Rescue. They rushed her to a vet and launched a social media fundraiser to cover her steep medical bills. Though she was not expected to survive, the plucky pooch defied the odds and is now on the road to recovery. Artisan plans to find Sansa a new forever home.
Kent Police Praise Volunteers for Life-Saving Work
Sansa is currently in the care of a Canine Community Policing Volunteer (CPV) who also helps Artisan. Another CPV is digging into her past to uncover info about her previous owner and medical history. PC Martyn Tulk, Canine CPV lead for Kent Police, said:
“We’re so pleased what could have been a tragic story is turning into a happy ending for Sansa. This rescue was a real team effort. We’re proud to have worked with our roads policing colleagues, the paramedic at the scene, and Artisan Rescue. Our Canine CPVs are passionate animal lovers tackling dog theft, illegal imports, and irresponsible ownership. Sansa’s story shows their dedication perfectly.”
Kent Police also offer CPV roles for pilots, horse owners, 4×4 drivers, and more.
