Preston Man Dies After Being Found Unconscious on Pavement

Tragedy struck on Sunday morning in Preston when 58-year-old Nigel Andrew Scott was found unconscious on the pavement in Clarendon Road East. Emergency services were called at 10:05am, and Nigel was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries. Sadly, he passed away the following day, December 28.

Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Nigel

Devastated family members described Nigel as a much-loved son, father, and uncle. “We, as a family, are devastated by Nigel’s tragic and sudden death,” they said. Nigel’s mum June, children Danny, Lee, Danika, and Tyler, along with niece Chantal and nephew Paul, said he will be deeply missed. They appealed for privacy during this painful time.

Arrest Made as Police Investigate Murder

A 32-year-old man from Preston, first arrested on suspicion of wounding, has now been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as detectives continue their investigation.

Detective Inspector Mark Dickinson from Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team urged the public to come forward with any information. “Our investigation is ongoing,” he said. “We are asking anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area on December 27 to assist us in piecing together what happened.”

Community Reassured as Police Appeal for Help

Det Insp Dickinson added: “This is being treated as an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public. Reassurance patrols will continue in the area over the coming days.”
