Knife-Wielding Robber Stabbed Shop Worker in Finchley

Police rushed to a Finchley shop on Grand Parade around 1pm on Tuesday, 20 October after reports of a knife robbery.

The suspect got into a violent struggle with two staff members. He stabbed a male worker, who was rushed to hospital with a non life-threatening injury. A female staff member suffered a slash to her hand during the attack.

The thief grabbed several items, including the victims’ bank cards, before making off.

Flying Squad Cops Track Down Armed Suspect

Officers from the Flying Squad swooped on CCTV footage showing the stolen bank cards in use. They soon spotted the 27-year-old suspect on Finchley High Road.

The suspect then threatened police with a large kitchen knife. A Taser was deployed to bring him down safely. He was caught carrying stolen goods and hauled to a north London police station.

Detective Praises Officers’ Bravery and Teamwork

“This incident is a great example of fantastic teamwork between Flying Squad and local officers, who were quickly able to identify and arrest a dangerous individual,” said Detective Sergeant Gary Taylor.

“Our thoughts are with the victims and we wish them a speedy recovery. Sadly, this also shows the dangers officers face every day protecting the public. Thankfully, no officers were harmed during the confrontation.”
