Machete, Drugs and Stolen Car: Man Busted After High-Speed Chase in Westminster
A daring car chase ended with a bang last Wednesday night when police stopped a stolen Fiat Abarth loaded with drugs and a machete.
Stolen Fiat Spotted on Edgware Road
Around 9.15pm on 15 April, officers from Operation Venice spotted a grey Fiat Abarth cruising Edgware Road, W2. The vehicle was reported stolen and was flashing false number plates.
When officers signalled to stop, the driver floored it, sparking a high-speed pursuit through central London.
Pursuit Ends with Arrest and Serious Charges
The chase ended at Warwick Avenue, where police used tactical contact to bring the car to a halt. The driver was arrested facing multiple charges:
- Aggravated vehicle theft
- Failing to stop for police
- Possession with intent to supply Class B drugs (cannabis)
- Possession of an offensive weapon (machete)
He is currently held at a central London police station.

PC Stuart MacPherson of Operation Venice said: “There is an established link between drug supply and violence. Our officers, alongside the wider Met, work round the clock to chase those involved in such crimes.
“In this case, swift action on spotting a stolen car led to a safe and professional resolution. We’ll keep fighting to bring violent offenders off the streets of London.”
