Chaos in Market Place at Tea-Time
Police were called to a Market Place restaurant around 5.30pm after reports a man entered carrying what appeared to be a firearm. Thankfully, no one was hurt as staff quickly asked the male to leave the premises.
Quick Arrest After Town Centre Search
Officers launched an immediate search of the area. They soon found a man matching the description in Sidmouth Street. Police seized a firearm believed to be a BB gun.
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Using Firearm to Cause Fear
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He has been taken to Gablecross custody for questioning.
