Murder Probe Launched After Man Stabbed in Rotherham

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally stabbed in Rotherham last night. A second suspect was arrested today in connection with the case.

Two Men Held Over Fatal Stabbing

At 7.16pm on Sunday, emergency services responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a car on Herringthorpe Valley Road, Rotherham. Officers soon learned the man had been stabbed.

A post mortem confirmed the victim died from a stab wound. Police arrested a 24-year-old man this afternoon on suspicion of murder. A 25-year-old suspect, arrested earlier, remains in custody.

Investigation Ongoing, Family Supported

“This investigation remains in its early stages,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mick Hakin. “We are moving fast to understand what happened. Two people are in custody on suspicion of murder.”

“We have identified the victim as an adult male, not a child as some rumours suggested. We are supporting the victim’s family with specially trained officers.”

“Incidents like this are shocking and distressing for the community. Officers will remain in the area as the investigation continues.”

“We urge people not to post images or videos online out of respect for the victim’s family.”
