Milton Keynes on High Alert: Full Borough Section 60 Stop and Search Activated
Violent Brawl Sparks Police Action
A major Section 60 Stop and Search order has been launched across the entire Borough of Milton Keynes for 24 hours. The crackdown began at 7.30pm on June 23 and will run until 7.30pm on June 24, at the earliest.
The sweeps follow a violent disorder at Buckfast Play Park, Bletchley, reported just after 5.20pm today. Police say 20 to 30 males clashed, armed with bricks and bladed weapons.
Six Arrested, Weapons Seized
Six men have been arrested so far in connection with the fracas. Police also recovered multiple weapons. One male sustained minor injuries during the fight.
Police Step Up Patrols with Extra Powers
Inspector Kirsty Bishop, Aylesbury police station, said: “Unfortunately, once again, we have seen a significant incident of disorder in Milton Keynes this evening, and as a result, we have implemented a further Section 60 order.
This order will allow our officers extra powers to stop and search people across the entire Borough of Milton Keynes for at least the next 24 hours.
These powers are vital to help police prevent further violence and maintain public safety.”
Under this order, officers can search anyone in the borough without needing reasonable suspicion. The police will review the order on Thursday and could extend it if necessary.
Public Urged to Stay Calm and Cooperate
Inspector Bishop added: “If you are stopped by an officer, don’t worry – it doesn’t mean you’re in trouble. Please feel free to speak with officers about any concerns. They’re happy to help and offer reassurance.”
