Police Officer Falls Ill on Duty in Shropshire
PC Andy Boardman, just 43, collapsed suddenly while on duty in Broseley, Shropshire, yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 11 April). Despite emergency efforts, he tragically passed away.
Tributes Pour In from West Mercia Police
Chief Constable Pippa Mills shared a heartfelt statement: “This is a terrible shock for everyone that knew Andy. Our thoughts are with his wife Luci, their two daughters, and all his family, friends and colleagues.”
She added, “Andy was a familiar and friendly face across the communities he served and well-liked by all at West Mercia Police. We are flying our flags at half-mast today as a mark of respect.”
Responding to Incident When Collapse Occurred
PC Boardman was attending an incident with paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service when he became ill. Chief Constable Mills praised the paramedics and officers involved, saying, “They did everything they could for Andy.”
Career Dedicated to Service
Andy began his policing career in 2007 with West Midlands Police and joined West Mercia Police in 2015. Before policing, he served seven years in the Armed Forces. His police work took him to Kidderminster, Stourport, and most recently the Safer Neighbourhood Team covering Broseley and Much Wenlock.
