Police Arrest Suspect Minutes After Scooter Snatch

Police rushed to Hillocks Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield just after 2.45am this Saturday after a 17-year-old was threatened and his electric scooter stolen. Officers quickly tracked down a suspect on nearby Sutton Road and detained him.

33-Year-Old Held on Robbery and Cannabis Charges

The arrested man, aged 33, is now in police custody on suspicion of robbery and cannabis possession. A sharpened screwdriver was found at the scene and seized by police.

Victim Unharmed and Scooter Recovered

Thankfully, the teenage victim was left uninjured and was later reunited with his scooter.

“As with all incidents of this type, officers responded very quickly and were on the scene within minutes,” said Detective Sergeant Georgie Gallagher of Nottinghamshire Police.

“A suspect was very quickly identified and arrested by armed response officers who were in the area at the time.”

“Robbery is an extremely serious offence that can have a long-lasting impact on victims. That is why we currently have two specialist teams of detectives in Nottinghamshire who focus on bringing those responsible to justice.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Anyone with more information about the incident is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident 84 of 14 May 2022.
