Thieves Make a Run for It After Ripping Off Coats from Fenwick
Two men dashed out of Fenwick department store on 25 January 2022, clutching a haul of men’s coats stolen from the menswear section. Despite a swift chase by security, they managed to escape the scene unscathed.
Police Hot on Their Tail
Quick police patrols spotted a suspicious vehicle linked to the getaway. This lead took them straight to an address on Liston Road, Tottenham. Officers from the Tonbridge Community Policing team raided the property on 28 January.
During the operation, one man made a daring foot escape but was caught a short distance away. Thanks to the quick actions of several members of the public who helped detain him until more officers arrived, the suspect was finally arrested.
Police Thank Civic Heroes, Call for Witnesses
Sergeant Ash Boxall said: “The suspect was verbally and physically aggressive. I want to thank the drivers who stopped and helped our officer with the arrest before our colleagues arrived. Unfortunately, they left before giving us their details. The arrest happened near Lansdowne Road and we want to find and thank them properly, as well as gather any information they may have. Suspect Bailed Ahead of Further Enquiries
The 30-year-old suspect from Tottenham is currently out on bail. He is due to return to the police station on 24 February for further questioning.
