Tragic Deaths After Jersey Explosion
Kathleen McGinness, 73, has died following the devastating explosion that ripped through a building next to the Haut Du Mont flats in St Helier early on December 10th. Though she was rushed to hospital, she passed away on Christmas Day, Jersey Police confirmed.
Cause of Blast Still Unknown
The horrific blast on Pier Road destroyed a three-storey residential block. Authorities are still investigating what caused the explosion.
Police Pay Tribute to Victims and Families
Chief of the States of Jersey Police, Robin Smith, expressed heartfelt condolences to all affected. He said:
“This incident has been incredibly difficult for everyone involved, and I would like to commend the families for their fortitude in the face of such tragic circumstances. The island is right behind them and ready to help, but first and foremost, we’re there to give them privacy and time to grieve.”
Specially trained officers are supporting Ms McGinness’ family during this difficult time.
