Pervert Gets 2.5 Years for Rail Sex Attacks on Teen Girl
Maxim Rowan-Moy, 32, from Plumstead, has been locked up for 30 months after pleading guilty to multiple sexual assaults on a teenage girl aboard a train. He also received a 5-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the sex offenders register for a decade.
Victim Targeted at Dover Priory Station
On the evening of 26 March, Rowan-Moy approached his young victim at Dover Priory station. He boarded the train with her, sat close, and offered her vodka. Then the nightmare began.
Rowan-Moy sexually assaulted her repeatedly, even following her to another carriage when she tried to escape his clutches. He violently tried to pull her closer, persistently touching her inappropriately despite her clear distress.
Quick Police Action Leads to Arrest
The attack stopped only when other passengers boarded and a train guard stayed with the victim until Rochester station. Staff there alerted police, who arrested Rowan-Moy on the spot. He attempted to lie, claiming he knew the victim.
“This was a truly sickening attack against a lone teenage girl by a disgusting predator,” said Detective Constable Terry Botten. “She has shown immense bravery in supporting this investigation. I’m pleased this vile and dangerous offender is now behind bars.”
Police Urge Victims to Speak Up
DC Botten added: “We are dedicated to tackling sexual offenders on the railway network. If you experience or witness a sexual offence, report it immediately by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40. In an emergency, always dial 999.”
