Blaze Tears Through Derelict Maisonette in Charlton
Four fire engines and 25 firefighters raced to a derelict maisonette on Maryon Grove last night. The fire tore through two flats on the first and second floors, leaving them gutted.
Two Flats Destroyed, No Injuries
The flames engulfed the abandoned building, but thankfully no one was injured. Residents nearby were evacuated as a precaution.
Firefighters Battle Blaze for Over an Hour
The Brigade was called at 8.25pm and had the fire under control by 9.30pm. Crews from Plumstead, Eltham, and Greenwich fire stations joined the firefight at the scene.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
The London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are now investigating the cause of the devastating blaze. No suspects have been named.
