Man in Critical Condition After Southampton Stabbing

Police are hunting for witnesses after a brutal attempted murder rocked Coleman Street, Southampton, yesterday afternoon.

A man in his 20s was viciously stabbed multiple times around 1.10pm. He was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition.

Two Arrested as Police Launch Full Investigation

Officers have detained two local men, aged 18 and 21, on suspicion of attempted murder. Both remain in custody as enquiries continue.

Police have sealed off Coleman Street and a nearby property in Golden Grove while hunting for more suspects and evidence.

Police Chief Vows to Crack Down on Knife Crime

“This has been a fast-paced investigation into a serious assault in broad daylight in the centre of the city. My thoughts are with the victim and his family,” said Superintendent Phil Lamb.

“Our officers are working hard to identify any outstanding suspects and get to the bottom of what happened. Incidents like this have no place in Southampton.

“This week, we’ve been supporting Operation Sceptre, a national drive against knife crime, with extra patrols and school visits to warn youngsters about carrying weapons.

“Knife crime is a top priority for us all year round. We’ll keep up reassurance patrols in St Mary’s. If you see something suspicious, speak to our officers.”
