Woman, 44, Killed in Charlton Van Crash
Tragedy struck in Atlas Gardens, Charlton, on Tuesday night. At 10.33pm, police were called after a 44-year-old woman was hit by a van.
Despite frantic efforts from paramedics and officers, the woman died at the scene.
Family Devastated, Police Offer Support
The victim’s next of kin have been informed. Specialist family liaison officers are now providing support to them during this heartbreaking time.
Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, local policing boss for south-east London, said: “This is a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the woman’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
A dedicated team of detectives are piecing together what happened. They will stay at the scene throughout the day to carry out enquiries. Local officers will also be on hand to address any concerns in the community.”
Investigation Underway – Police Seek Witnesses
A post-mortem will determine the exact cause of death.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the probe and urge anyone with information to come forward.
