An uninsured driver sparked a police chase before having his van seized and getting arrested near Ashford.

Van Chase Ends with Arrest

Officers from the Rural Task Force spotted a white Ford Transit weaving dangerously through Hothfield at around 1pm on Wednesday 2 February 2022. The driver ignored police signals and took off, prompting a brief pursuit.

The van was finally stopped on the A20 maidstone/" title="Maidstone" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Maidstone Road in Charing.

Multiple Charges for Faversham Man

The 29-year-old driver from Faversham was hauled in on suspicion of several offences: dangerous driving, driving under the influence of drink and drugs, failing to stop for police, and driving without insurance.

Officers also discovered a large load of scrap metal in the back of the van. The driver couldn’t show a waste carrier licence, a breach that will be reported to the local authority.

Driver Released But Investigation Ongoing

The man has since been released from custody while police continue their enquiries.
