Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable to Quit for Top National Crime Role

After more than 32 years in policing, Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Chris Haward has announced he will leave the force in February 2024. He’s stepping up to become the UK Coordinator for Serious and Organised Crime at the National Police Chiefs’ Council.

‘A Tough Decision to Leave Lincolnshire’

Haward said: “It is with a great deal of sadness that I have decided to move on. I have loved the last three years in Lincolnshire and am immensely proud to have been Chief Constable during this time.

“I didn’t expect to leave at this point, but an unexpected opportunity has arisen – it’s time for a new challenge. Since joining policing, I’ve been either on the frontline or helping deliver day-to-day policing. Over the last three years, I’ve focused on force culture and wellbeing to deliver the highest standards to our communities. I hope I’ve made a positive impact.”

“My new role will coordinate the response to the biggest threats posed by organised crime groups across all police forces and partner agencies. I’m really proud to have served Lincolnshire Police and thankful for the support from PCC Marc Jones.”

PCC Marc Jones Bids Farewell to ‘Dedicated’ Chief

Lincolnshire Police and Crime Commissioner Marc Jones added: “I am sad to see Chris move on but understand what a fantastic opportunity this is for him.

“He has been a dedicated and hard-working Chief Constable. Chris expertly led the force through the huge challenge of transitioning away from the G4S contract. He’s worked tirelessly to build a police force ready to tackle modern crime and keep our communities safe.”

“I wish him all the best in his new prestigious national role. He will bring invaluable experience and expertise to this critical position.”

Next Steps for Lincolnshire

Haward will continue his duties as Chief Constable until his departure in February 2024. He promises to carry on focusing on frontline policing and will say his goodbyes closer to his leaving date.

Lincolnshire Police now faces the task of finding a successor to lead the force into the future.
