Police are urgently seeking information after a woman in her 40s was sexually assaulted in North Staffordshire early Sunday morning.

Victim Taken from Nightclub by Two Men

The victim left The Foyer nightclub on Hassell Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, around 1.30am on 10 December. She was then approached by two men who persuaded her into a taxi. The trio left the area at about 1.50am.

Officers believe the taxi headed to a Stoke address where the woman was sexually assaulted. The incident was reported the next day, Monday 11 December. Since then, a 56-year-old and a 31-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent have been arrested on suspicion of rape and are currently in custody being questioned.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have vital information,” said Detective Inspector Becky Harris.

“We believe the woman was approached on Hassell Street by two men. One was described as large-built, wearing a black jacket and black beanie.”

“We take all reports of sexual assault extremely seriously. Our priority is supporting survivors and bringing offenders to justice.”
