Police in Littlehampton are hunting witnesses after a collision between an electric motorbike and a police dog unit vehicle on Sunday evening. The smash happened just before 6pm on Franciscan Way.

The rider fled the scene in a hit-and-run. But thanks to a keen police dog, officers tracked down a 33-year-old man with no fixed address nearby and arrested him on multiple charges.

The man faces a string of suspicions including dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise not in accordance with his licence. He was taken to hospital for treatment and remains there at the time of writing.
