Police are hunting witnesses after a serious sexual assault in Swindon. The incident unfolded around 1.30am on Sunday when members of the public flagged down officers patrolling Hoopers Place, worried about a woman’s safety.

A man in his 20s was swiftly arrested on suspicion of rape, sexual assault, and indecent exposure. He remains in custody for questioning as the investigation intensifies.

DCI Nick Mawson said, “This is an extremely concerning incident involving a man who also encouraged the woman to get in his car, suggesting he could be a taxi driver.”
