BBQ Blaze in Barking: Massive Fire Rips Through Flats
A huge fire tore through a block of flats in Barking this afternoon, possibly sparked by a barbecue being used indoors, sources reveal. The inferno ripped through multiple apartments on De Pass Gardens in Barking Riverside, leaving many residents homeless.
100 Firefighters Battle Relentless Flames
Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters raced to the scene after the blaze broke out just after 3.30pm on Sunday. Flames engulfed the block from ground floor all the way up to the sixth floor, spreading along the outside walls and threatening neighbouring properties.
One shaken resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “Just moments before, someone was using a BBQ inside one of the flats.”
Fire Under Investigation, No Injuries Reported
A London Fire Brigade spokesman confirmed the ongoing fight against the fire, with crews from Barking, Dagenham, East Ham, and other nearby stations joining the effort. The Brigade is still at the scene, working tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
The cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, with specialist investigators now probing the scene. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “No injuries have been reported,” though officers are helping with road closures and public safety around the area.
