Apple Music listeners weren’t just enjoying the hits—they shaped the soundtrack of 2022. The revamped Apple Music Replay nailed it, giving fans a personalised dive into their year in music.

“When we first launched Replay, it was an instant fan favourite,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s VP of Apple Music and Beats. “We wanted to make it even more special and personal. Music becomes your life’s soundtrack, so going back and reliving those moments is pure fun.”

Apple Music Reveals 2022’s Biggest Hits & Trends

The year-end charts spotlighted 2022’s top songs, Shazams, fitness jams, and most-read lyrics. Fans noticed more non-English tracks climbing the charts, fresh genres booming, and new stars making waves.

Leading the pack: The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s smash hit “STAY”. Released in 2021, it dominated the global charts for 51 days and stayed in the top 100 daily worldwide, hitting No. 1 in 69 countries.

  • Hip-Hop ruled with 32 of the Top 100 songs
  • Pop followed at 23 songs
  • R&B/Soul grabbed 11 spots
  • Latin and J-Pop came in fourth and fifth with 8 and 6 songs respectively

On the Most Read Lyrics chart, Disney’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from Encanto led the way—showing just how global and diverse music tastes are, with 29 of the top 100 songs sung in languages other than English.

Fitness, Shazam, & UK Music Highlights

British DJ Joel Corry’s “Head & Heart (feat. MNEK)” owned the Fitness Songs chart, topping Apple Fitness+ playlists and reaching the Daily Top 100 in 53 countries.

Shazam’s chart crowned “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” by Elton John and Dua Lipa No.1 — Elton’s first global Shazam top spot. It also snagged No.1 in 17 countries, including the UK for the first time.

Other big Shazam hits included Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves,” Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” Farruko’s “Pepas,” and Acraze’s “Do It To It (feat. Cherish).”

Finally, Bad Bunny grabbed Apple Music’s Artist of the Year and smashed records with Un Verano Sin Ti. Just four months post-release, it became the biggest Latin album ever by lifetime streams.
