A drunken driver, dubbed a total “covidiot,” has been arrested after a hit-and-run crash on City Way, Chatham, on Friday night. The suspect fled the scene but karma caught up fast—and nearly cost him his life.
Speed, Bend, and a Near-Disaster
Still blind drunk behind the wheel, the driver sped down Onslow Road, failing to spot a sharp bend. Losing control, the silver Ford smashed through safety barriers, narrowly missing a group of people waiting for a bus.
Car Flips Over – Emergency Services Rush In
The vehicle came to a terrifying stop upside down. Police, paramedics, and Kent Fire and Rescue scrambled to the scene and made the car safe.
Road Closures and Ongoing Probe
- Delece Road and St Williams Way remain closed while police investigate.
- One person was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after failing a roadside breath test.
- The suspect is currently in custody.
