£1,600 Cash Seized in Canterbury Brothel Raid
Police swooped on a suspected brothel in Canterbury, seizing £1,600 and safeguarding a vulnerable woman. The raid took place at a property in Great Stour Mews on Tuesday 7 July 2020.
Community Tips Lead to Police Action
Officers from Canterbury’s Community Policing Team acted after a member of the public tipped them off. Upon entering the property, they helped a woman believed to have been exploited financially through prostitution.
Investigation Still Underway
Inquiry into the property’s ownership and possible offences linked to the location is ongoing. Inspector Guy Thompson praised the community for their vigilance:
“I would like to thank members of the local community for alerting us to this location. As a result, we have safeguarded a vulnerable woman who is thought to have been exploited for criminal financial gain. This is often a hidden crime where exploitation of the most vulnerable occurs.”
Police Urge Public to Speak Up
Inspector Thompson added: “I urge members of the public to contact us if a property appears to have lots of visitors attending alone.”
