Brutal Bottle Attack in Sainsbury’s Sparks Police Hunt
A shocking assault unfolded at Sainsbury’s in the Angel Centre on Thursday, 28 September 2023. Around 8.40pm, a man confronted a suspected shoplifter trying to steal several bottles of spirits.
Suspect Smashes Bottle Over Victim’s Head
The attacker allegedly turned one of the bottles into a weapon, repeatedly striking the victim’s head with it before fleeing the store. The victim suffered deep cuts and was rushed to hospital. Police officers quickly arrived on the scene and launched an active investigation.

“The violence used against the victim was appalling; he was struck with such force that the bottle shattered,” said DC Jo Slevin of West Kent CID. “Though our CCTV footage shows little of his face, the suspect wore a distinctive top that we hope someone may recognise.”
