Missing Teen Owen Harding: Police Urge Drivers to Check Dashcams
Sussex Police have launched a desperate appeal for motorists near Saltdean to check their dashcam footage after 16-year-old Owen Harding vanished a week ago.
Owen Disappears Near Clifftop on A259
Owen left his Saltdean home around 6pm on Thursday, March 26. Two witnesses spotted a boy matching his description near the A259 clifftop between 6.15pm and 6.30pm. Police hope dashcam videos might reveal his movements after that point.
CCTV Snaps Show Owen Walking Nearby
Footage captured Owen walking south in Bannings Vale at 6.50pm. He may have turned onto Hamsey Road from there. Another CCTV photo, taken at 6.08pm on Bevendean Avenue, shows a figure matching Owen’s description—but it’s unclear if that’s him.
“It’s now been a week since Owen’s disappearance and we share the concern of his family and friends for his safety and welfare,” said Detective Chief Inspector Alasdair Henry.
“Searches have been carried out extensively in Saltdean and Telscombe Cliffs. We know of his links to Yorkshire and rumours he might have walked there to see his girlfriend, but there’s no evidence he’s left Sussex.
Police Plea: Any Footage or Info Could Help
The police thanked the public for their support but stressed sticking to Government guidance during searches. They’re working with teams across the country if there’s any sign Owen has travelled beyond Sussex.
The boy is described as white, 5’11” to 6’, athletic build, short brown hair, usually wearing white trainers and a dark hoodie. On the day he went missing, police believe he wore dark joggers.
